Lalakhal, a river of transparent blue water in Jaintapur Upazila, about 35 kilometers away from Sylhet city. It’s an incredible natural beauty of Bangladesh. The place is quite useful to feel genuinely different. In the hills, there are dense green forests, rivers, tea-gardens, and various species of trees. The combination of water and nature will give you an extraordinary feeling.
Here you will have the opportunity to meet the indigenous people. The area is a favorite, desired and awaited place for tourists. You can go there by road or waterways, but the boat tour is more than the road trip. You will be lost in your dream to see the amazing natural beauties on the way.
Location: As mentioned earlier, it is located in Jaintapur Upazila and at the bottom of India's Cherrapunji. This canal originating from Cherrapunji Hills flows through Bangladesh.
Best time to visit: Winter is the best time to visit. During this time you will get a nice blue waterway. Rainstorm is not there anymore. So the water is calm, transparent. The river floor is completely visible from the top. Those who did not go to Sylhet could not even think that the water could be so transparent! During the rainy season, watercolor is lost. In winter you will see a bonus of all kinds of guest/winter birds.
Please note that you can spend the whole day or the last part of the day. If you go there for a whole day, there are two kinds of joy found in the evening. The place looks more unusual in the evening. The illuminated sky above. The tired sun shines in the western sky. Bird's playing in the trees around. It seems that the evening is coming down from the hills. Gradually covered the dark twilight.
The darkness of the evening comes down to Lalakhal's transparent blue water. In the moonlit night, the boat passing through the lake is outstanding. But be careful. If you wish, you can spend the night at the resort next to the Khal (canal). The resort also has its own transport system. Looking blue water by speedboat will definitely increase your joy.
After coming to Sharighat of Sylhet-Tamabil road from Sylhet, it will take one-and-a-half hour boat trips. It depends on the speed of the engine boat. If you are from Sylhet, you have to float the boat from Sharighat. Anyone's mind will be lightened after going to Sharighat. You will love to see the stone shield and the transparent blue water of the canal.
From Sharighat, every hour a boat leaves to the Khal. Local people travel in the boat. Where the canals start, there is a beautiful tea garden and factory. The garden is also very clean and beautiful. Playing football can be more enjoyable on the side of the neighboring soccer field if you have the preparation. You can also visit the Adibasi (indigenous) village. The mountainous zodiac path will take you to another world. On the other side, Indian border will tell you don't try to cross it.
There is no house on either side of the Khal, but there are all kinds of plants. Everywhere is green. You will see lots of Kashful (wildflower). However, there are numerous curves in the river. Every curve is beautiful to look like. The mountains are seen away from the river. It looks like they are very close to you but not really. Looking at the mountains, it seems that someone has arranged the threshold with one hand after another. Here the clouds are deposited on the hill.
If the cloud is deposited more than once, the rainfall increases. The river and the mountainous stream, the streams of water flowing down the river and the fountain falling on the hillside, it is like a charming form of nature. It is different to see the mountains on the boat in the river. If you visit here with a team, you will get more advantages. Not only for saving money but also you will enjoy a lot with your family and friends.

The word 'canal' is associated with the name of the place, but it is basically part of a river. The name of the river is Shari. Water is not stable, it's always running. Because, Cherrapunji is rolling water from the hills, with the salvation. Due to the flow of the river, it takes a longer time to go there, but you will get additional benefits while returning back.
Where to stay? The only accommodation system in here is Nazimgarh Resort. If you want to stay there, you should book your rooms before going. But most people live in Sylhet city. In that case, it is better to go back in the evening. Because the boats are not available after evening.
Where to eat? There is a restaurant named River queen at Nazimgarh resort. It will be good to carry your own food with a lot of water.
How to go? From Sylhet city to the Khal microbus fare is 2,000-3,000 Taka and if you take the car, the fare is between Tk 1500-2,000. If you want to return back to the city, you have to leave early in the morning. Apart from this, you can go to Sharighat by local bus or Laguna, the fare is 40-60 Taka per person. From the Sharighat engine, boat fare is 800-1,500 and speedboats are 1500-2000 Taka. 15-20 people can easily enjoy their journey in the boat.
Other nearest attractions: Don't miss the opportunity to visit Jaflong, Bichanakandi, and Ratargul swamp forest.
Final words: The beauty enhances the mind. So, as far as possible, all of us should visit such kind of natural beauty. But we have the responsibility of protecting that beauty. Keep the environment clean. Do not throw dirt everywhere and don't play loud music. Enjoy yourself and let others enjoy their visit to Lalakhal Sylhet.
